| I haven't had the urge to drink a soda for about twenty years now, and living in Japan has changed that. Most people here drink tea, whether it be green tea, oolong tea or black tea(or "English tea" is you will). Come summer, everyone switches over to "mugi-cha", barley tea. This beverage has no calories, is caffeine-free, and is quite refreshing. The Koreans drink it warm in the winter. I highly recommend switching from sugary sodas(even the diet drinks are packed with additives that give gray hair to laboratory rats!) and even fruit juices. Sure, the latter are essentially good for you, yet they have a whopping amount of calories. I prefer to eat the actual fruit myself, then have a beverage like tea or water! |
